Kalibak was the son of Darkseid.

History
He asks his father if he can make a war party to travel to Earth after Superman calls for a peace treaty. Darkseid obliges, and Kalibak invades the Earth as Superman is delivering a public address in an attempt to appease to the people of Earth. The Apokoliptian fights the Kryptonian, mocking the latter's inability to kill in the name of war. Enraged, Superman vaporizes countless Parademons and grabs Kalibak. When he tries to surrender, Superman continues to beat him down. When Kalibak proclaims that he cannot die because he is "a god!" Superman says that he doesn't care and kills Kalibak.
Darkseid later sends Lobo out to kill Superman as a means of revenge.
