The Kanes of Kane County, found their wealth in the lands just north of Gotham City. Around the turn of the century, their wealth grew even more when their land was connected to the city by the Robert H. Kane Memorial Bridge, masterminded by Cameron Kane in honor of his son.
Several generations later, his descendant Roderick Kane sold the majority of the industries. He had at least five children: Martha, Nathan, Philip, Jacob and an unnamed son (Bette Kane's father), though their order of birth is unclear. Nathan inherited the fortune after their father's death, which implies he was the eldest.
