Kara is the name of several characters in the DC Universe. Queen Kara was an Wonder Woman acquaintance from Earth-Two.

Kara Zor-El is Supergirl, a Kryptonian superhero based in Midvale and later National City. She is the cousin of Superman and a member of the Justice League, Teen Titans, the Red Lantern Corps, and the Department of Extranormal Operations. Several alternate versions of Kara Zor-El have appeared in the Multiverse, like Power Girl, Ultragirl, and Overgirl. Kara's name is derived from the Kryptonian goddess of beauty.

Kara Zor-El was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino, first appearing in Action Comics #252. (1959)
