- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the television series Smallville and its tie-in and comic book series, Smallville and Smallville Season 11. It is an adaptation of Karen Starr/Power Girl. The original character was created by Gerry Conway, Ric Estrada, and Wally Wood and first appeared in All-Star Comics #58.

- Starrware was mentioned in the episodes "Extinction" and "Fade", along with the webseries The Vengeance Chronicles. Karen Starr was mentioned by full name in the Daily Planet issue (which had been featured in the episode "Homecoming"), included in the Complete Series DVD box set.
