Kat Howard is a writer.
Professional History
Before starting her writing career, Kat Howard worked as both a college professor and competitive fencer. Her first widely published work was the novella The End of the Sentence in 2014, co-written with Maria Dahvana Headley. Her solo debut novel, Roses and Rot, was selected by Publishers Weekly as the Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror Novel of Summer 2016 and was a finalist for the Locus Aware for Best First Novel. Her followup, An Unkindness of Magicians won a 2018 Alex Award and was named one of the best books of 2017 by National Public Radio. She has also been a college professor and competitive fencer.
In 2018, she joined Neil Gaiman's The Sandman Universe reboot for Vertigo as the writer of Books of Magic (Volume 3).
