History
Origins
Decades ago, prior to World War II, a twelve year-old Kent Nelson followed his father, Sven Nelson, into the Valley of Ur. His father had been struck with a prophetic vision some time earlier, a vision of an ancient tomb belonging to an exta-terrestrial wizard. His father spent the family's life savings getting them to the Valley, becoming a laughingstock in the process. Sven was vindicated, however, when he and his son discovered an ancient tomb filled with mysterious writing.[2]
Unfortunately, the Lord of Order Nabu , bound within a false body, forced Kent to pull a nearby lever, releasing a poisonous gas that killed Sven. As payment, Nabu flooded the young boy's head with arcane knowledge and rebuilt him to his physical peak and mental peak, transforming him into a being of pure order.[3]
Nabu then ordered Kent to kill his false body; Kent aquiesced, blasting the body apart with his newfound power and revealing the helmet hidden within.[4]
Using his newfound power, Nabu and Kent went on to become great heroes and forces for order within the universe.[5]
Early Adventures
Doctor Fate would go on to become a founding member of the Justice Society of America.
Later, an outside force would warp the timeline in the aftermath of Flashpoint, erasing the JSA from history and displacing many of Doctor Fate's associates. Unlike most of his comrades, however, Doctor Fate's history remained largely intact.

Kent would later regain control of his body to aid Blue Beetle and Ted Kord.
