The rebirth deity Khepri is the god of resurrections and renewal and the morning sun of the ancient Egyptian pantheon, the creative form of the sun god Ra.[1]
History
Khepri pushes the disk of the Sun up from the Underworld, leaving the tunnel of Duat to reassume his body of light.[1]
In the Egyptian language, his name is a pun. It means 'becoming', or 'he who is coming into being'. Thus, the scarab, which is the sacred animal form of Khepri, a deity seen as the dung beetle, symbolizes the endless cycle of death and rebirth, of life creating itself from its own ashes.[1]
