- — King Killer src
King Killer was a superhuman criminal monster, and a dangerous enemy of Uncle Sam.
History
Doctors Link and Blink painstakingly collected brains from the bodies of fifty of the worst criminals in the world, and kidnapped a hapless dupe, then surgically took him apart and put him back together, pumped him full of gorilla blood, and transformed him into a fanged, giant, superhuman monster. They called him "King Killer" and turned him loose, to murder a local bully. He also murdered and robbed a local merchant, and brought all his money back to Blink and Link's laboratory, then murdered both of them, and set out on a rampage of crime.
Soon King Killer had a gang, and he moved them out into the desert, to build a series of huge, fortified cities. A nationwide migration of gangsters and hoodlums converged on these towns, which soon organized into a county, called Rex, and sent a delegation to Washington, D.C., to petition for statehood. After some debate, this was unanimously granted, and Rex became the forty-ninth state. It immediately became a haven for gangsters and hoodlums from every corner of the country, who converged upon the five cities of Rex in big caravans.
All of this inevitably brought King Killer into conflict with Uncle Sam, and the two of them fought toe-to-toe, for at least three days, at the end of which the half-drowned King Killer was imprisoned in a specially-built steel cell.[1] And as soon as he felt good and ready to, the mightiest criminal in the world escaped from that prison and murderously rampaged thru several cities.
King Killer took over a place called Ghost Town, and set up a phony gold strike in the nearby hills, then publicized it all across the country, by telephone. Caravans full of suckers rushed out to Ghost Town, and Killer King got a lot of their money and sent them on their way.
The President personally asked Uncle Sam to go after King Killer, and after a few delays and complications, he again came to grips with this truly superhuman monster. Earth-shaking and fantastic feats of strength and durability were exchanged, for hours, until Killer and Uncle fought their way into a played-out gold mine, which they brought crashing down on themselves. Uncle Sam crawled out of that wreckage and King Killer didn't, but both Sam and Buddy had their doubts about King Killer being gone for good.[2] And rightly so.
Eventually, King Killer turned up alive, and rebuilt his Kingdom Of Crime, in the St. Lawrence River Valley. Killer tried to work a deal with Hitler, to rent out his Kingdom, but they were unable to agree. Uncle Sam and John Bull were called in from China, by Buddy, and they confronted King Killer, Chancellor Hitler, Dictator Mussolini, and a horde of hoodlums and gangsters. Another stupendous battle was waged, with the villains getting the worst of it. Uncle Sam and John Bull knocked down most or all of the buildings in the new Crime Kingdom, and John carried away Hitler and Mussolini when he left, and dropped them off in Berlin.
King Killer ended up in the Everytown Jail.[3] He may still be there, in any case, he has not been active since 1942.

- This version of King Killer, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
- Enemy of Uncle Sam
- Rex City is in Rex, the 49th state of the USA. Rex is out in the desert, and is also adjacent to the unnamed state where Everytown is.
- It is not revealed when, or how, the State of Rex was disincorporated, but apparently at some point it was, because the State of Rex is never mentioned again.
- Despite his apparent death in Uncle Sam Quarterly #2, King Killer returned in Uncle Sam Quarterly #3, at the end of which he is re-jailed in Everytown. He has not been heard from since.
