Synopsis for "Doorway to Death!"

As Ferris Aircraft's private jet gets hit by turbulence, Carol is knocked unconscious. Hal powers up his ring and attempts to get to the cockpit. As he opens the door, however, he finds himself no longer in the plane, but rather at his father's funeral and Hal himself is turned back into a child. Hal's mother, Jessica, takes him to his father's coffin so he can say goodbye, only for a grotesque, horrifying version of Martin to crawl out of the coffin, just like Martin and the other people gathered at the funeral turn into monsters and surround Hal.

Attempting to escape, Hal opens a door and enters Ferris Aircraft's hangar, where Carol is waiting for him. Frustrated by his apparent lack of interest, Carol tells Hal to perform a test flight for her company's investors or he will be fired. Hal gets into the simulator's cockpit, but suddenly, the simulator lifts off without Hal actually doing anything. The simulator crashes into the desert and as Hal crawls out of the wreckage, he finds a dying Abin Sur, who wants Hal to use his ring.

As Hal puts on the ring, he admits that he doesn't consider himself worthy and Abin agrees. The ring begins draining Hal's life-force and Abin replies that the ring was not meant to turn Hal into Abin's successor but to sacrifice Hal's life so that Abin can live: a necessary sacrifice to protect Hal's prehistoric civilization from the horrors of outer space. Hal uses a shard of yellow metal to cut off his finger and attempts to open another door to escape.

This time, Hal finds himself in Oa, standing in front of the Guardians, who say that his actions have caused the death of a Corpsman on Korugar. Hal requests for a team of Lanterns to investigate the recent events, but the Guardians reply that Hal is no longer a Corpsman himself, for he abandoned the Corps after the United Planets took control of the galaxy. They also berate Hal for betraying his oath and abandoning his friends, like Kilowog, a statement that confuses Hal, as Kilowog is standing right nexto the Guardians.

Finally realizing he is surrounded by imposters, Hal demands to know who is he talking to. Hal's mysterious tormentor is Insomnia, who admits that Hal's mind was notoriously hard to break. He had to shift reality many times to find the perfect fear to torment Hal with. He turns the Guardians into monsters, but Hal easily vanquishes them with an army of constructs. However, there is one more door Hal must cross. That door is the Central Power Battery and Hal's final enemy is Parallax.

Synopsis for "Shards from the Looking Glass, Part One"

Thaal Sinestro has seen better days. Stripped of his power, abandoned by his troops and trapped in the streets of Coast City, Sinestro laments his current predicament. He attempts to intimidate a random bystander, with no ring to fall back on, Sinestro only gets a punch for his troubles. Just as Sinestro privately admits to being afraid, a wave of energy covers the entire city.

As he opens his eyes, he finds that Coast City is now populated by monsters. One of the them approaches Sinestro, who recognizes him as Abin Sur. Sinestro is quick to deduce that he is trapped inside a vision, an illusion of Korugar, ruled by a past version of Sinestro. The younger, more monstrous Sinestro berates his present self for his weakness. Suddenly, this monster is knocked out by yet another version of Sinestro, who still wears the ring and the uniform of the Green Lantern Corps.
