Knives Maroney is an evil speedster from an alternate universe who ages in reverse. He is the archenemy of Night-Flash, his world's version of Barry Allen.
History
Decades ago, Knives Maroney was the most notorious crime boss in Central City. He attempted to steal a serum which promoted rapid healing from a scientist named Henry Allen, and when he refused, Knives took Henry's family hostage. Knives murdered Henry's wife Nora and was about to kill his son Barry, when the laboratory they were in was struck by lightning. Barry and Knives were both doused in Henry's formula and hit by the lightning.
The lab caught fire and everyone but Barry and Knives were killed. They both gained superspeed from the accident but Knives also began aging in reverse. Over twenty years later, Barry had grown up to be the vigilante Night-Flash and Knives had become a child. One day, he saw Night-Flash chasing Jai and Irey West and "rescued" them from him. They told him that they were from an alternate Earth without Night-Flash and were looking for their world's Barry Allen, but had lost the device that would let them return home. Knives told them that Night-Flash was a brutal tyrant and convinced them to "save" the world from him. The twins fought Night Flash but realised Knives was evil when he told them to kill Night-Flash. Jay Garrick, another hero from the other world, intervened and Knives fled.
Knives retreated to the spot where the twins had first arrived and found the device which would return them to their world.[1] He used the device to travel through the Multiverse, hunting the West twins. Along the way he met other villains who had encountered the twins in the past, or would do so in the future where they were part of a team known as the Superkids. He eventually found the Eternity Mind, a powerful artifact that allowed him to transport anyone or anything from anywhere in the Multiverse to his location. He teamed up with the villains he had met on his travels to summon the West twins; as well as Maxine Baker and the Superboy and Robin of another universe, to the Palace of Eternity and kill them before they could form the Superkids. The Superkids managed to get away and steal the Eternity Mind, but Kid Flash followed the twins to the Palace and Knives and his allies captured him. Knives called the Superkids to trade the Eternity Mind for Kid Flash, but when they did they used it to summon random animals that stampeded around and distracted him long enough for Kid Flash to punch him out and steal the Eternity Mind back. Robin used the Eternity Mind to send Knives and the other villains to jail in their home universes and eras.[2]

Powers
- Speed Force Conduit: Knives possesses a connection to the Speed Force, a mysterious cosmic force that pushes time and space itself forward. As a conduit of the Speed Force, all aspects of Knives's physiology are accelerated and enhanced.[3]
- Accelerated Healing: By having a connection to the speed force, Knives has an incredibly fast healing ability and can heal from most injuries in seconds and devastating injuries in minutes.[4]
- Enhanced Senses: The Speed Force enhances Knives's senses, allowing him to perceive and process thoughts faster than the normal person.[5]
- Phasing: Knives can tap into the Speed Force to vibrate his molecules in a way to achieve intangibility for short bursts, allowing him to phase through objects.[6]
- Speed Force Aura: The Speed Force manifests an aura around Knives and whatever he is carrying, protecting him from adverse effects of his speed, such as friction with the air.[7]
- Superhuman Durability: The Speed Force Aura also protects Knives from kinetic impacts, which in turn, makes him much more durable and resistant to injury than any normal human.[8]
- Superhuman Stamina: The Speed Force grants Knives with a great increase of stamina, allowing him to fight or run much longer than the average person. Although a great increase, it is not unlimited.[5]
- Superhuman Speed: The universal factor of being a Speed Force conduit grants Knives with imperceptible amounts of speed. All powers that Knives possesses derives from his speed.[5]. This also confers:
- Superhuman Agility: Knives's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to superhuman levels. This allows him to easily maneuver while moving at superhuman speed.[5]
- Superhuman Reflexes: In conjunction with his enhanced senses, Knives's reflexes are heightened immeasurably, allowing him to dodge or react faster than normal.[5]
- Vortex Creations: Knives is able to create vortices of air by running in circles or rotating his extremities at super-speed. These vortices can be used for a number of effects.[9]
- Reversed Aging: Every year Knives becomes younger and faster, while Night-Flash gets older and slower.[1]
