Kole Weathers was a test subject of her father's, Professor Abel Weathers, who was paranoid about an impending nuclear holocaust. Attempting to find a way for humanity to survive the fallout through forced evolution, he grafted his daughter with Promethium. Instead of evolving, Kole found herself with the ability to create and control silicon crystal.

Kole was then kidnapped by the mad sun Titaness, Thia. For two years, Thia forced Kole to use her powers to construct a crystal prison in which Thia can hold important prisoners. Thia eventually came into conflict with the Teen Titans... which ultimately lead to the death of the goddess and Kole winning her freedom. Lilith, a member of the Titans who has the power to tell the future, sensed the "dark clouds of destruction" around Kole and warned her that she would face a "grim future" should she return to Earth and invited her to remain in Mount Olympus. Kole declined, electing to reclaim her life on Earth.

Now back on earth, Kole tried to reunite with her parents, only to find that her father's experiments had produced a house full of crystalline and insectoid monstrosities. When the Titans came to confront him, he had them captured and attempted to subject them with the same experiments. Kole helped them to escape, and in the ensuing conflict, Abel and his wife Marilyn transformed themselves into insects and caused the lab to self-destruct. Having nowhere else to go, Kole chose to go with the Titans to New York City, though she never officially joined (this fact seems to be contradicted in other later sources such as The Secret Origins of the Teen Titans in which Dick Grayson lamented how Kole was a "Titan for such a short time").

Kole's death was confirmed however, only a few years later. Kole appears in the Teen Titans episode bearing her name, alongside Gnaark, her caveman partner. Her powers are much different than in her comic incarnation. Rather than creating crystal, she literally transforms herself into it, and is directly used as a melee weapon by Gnarrk in her crystal form. She lives underground with Gnarrk and becomes friends with the Titans. In the episode, Dr. Light wanted to use her as a tool to focus and enhance his light powers, but she was saved by the Titans and Gnarrk. They both become honorary Titans, but Kole believed she would be safe from the Brotherhood of Evil, as no one knew about her. Unfortunately, the Brotherhood used the communicator Robin gave her to listen in on her conversation and locate her. They later sent Billy Numerous and Gizmo to attack her and Gnarrk. She, Gnarrk and Cyborg (who had gone to rescue her) escaped, and joined in the final battle against the Brotherhood of Evil. She is voiced by Tara Strong.

|Powers =

Crystal Generation: Kole has the power to "spin" crystal, which is to create silicon crystal into independent masses...anything from a crystal "sculpture to a safety slide". She is known to encase people in crystal, effectively immobilizing them. It is not clear what happens to the crystal she spun, whether they just eventually disappear or they remain in existence has never been established (she once spun a crystal bridge to transport herself and Jericho from Manhattan to Titan's Tower in the East River, what happened to that bridge is subject to debate).

Kole also has the ability to fly, but it is unclear whether this also comes from the experiments which gave her her powers, or granted to her during her tenure as Thia's slave. Later in the Titan Titans comics, Kole is seen transporting herself on a crystal carpet. Only once had Kole been seen moving through crystal (or at least the crystal she spun herself).

Kole was kidnapped by the mad sun Titan, Thia. For two years, Thia forced Kole to use her powers to construct a crystal prison in which Thia could contain important prisoners. Thia eventually came into conflict with the Teen Titans which led to the death of the goddess and Kole's freedom. Lilith, a member of the Titans who precognition, warned Kole of an ominous portent regarding her future if she returned to Earth and tried to persuade her to remain on Mount Olympus. Kole declined, electing to reclaim her life on Earth.

Back on Earth, Kole tried to reunite with her parents, only to find that her father's experiments had produced a house full of crystalline and insectoid monstrosities. When the Titans came to confront him, he had them captured and attempted to subject them to the same experimentantion. Kole helped them to escape, and in the ensuing conflict, Abel and his wife Marilyn transformed themselves into insects before caused the lab to self-destruct. Having nowhere else to go, Kole chose to follow the Titans to New York City, though she never officially joined

Kole was believed to be killed during the collapse of the multiverse by the Anti-Monitor's shadow demons while trying to protect Robin and the Huntress,[1] but Kole mysteriously resurfaced a few years later, where she assisted the Team Titans against a pack of vampires.[2] Her powers had developed the ability to teleport at will and sense events happening miles away. She also commented that she wasn't anything "alive". After helping the Team Titans in several battles, Kole vanished again.

Kole's death was confirmed when teen successor to the line of Brother Blood created a team of zombie combatants made up of the resurrected deceased members of the Titans. Among those within Blood's ranks was Kole. When Blood's control over these undead Titans was broken by Kid Eternity who power was the source of the resurrections, Kole and the others decomposed. [3] A statue of Kole was erected in the Hall of Fallen Titans in Titans Tower, alongside Hawk and Dove, Aquagirl and others.

Powers

  • Crystal Generation: Kole had the power to "spin" crystal, which was used to create silicon crystal into independent masses. Anything from a crystal sculpture to a safety slide. She was known to encase people in crystal, effectively immobilizing them. It was not clear what happened to the crystal she spun, whether it just eventually disappeared or remained in existence was never established.
    • Flight: Kole had the ability to fly, but it is unclear whether this also comes from the experiments which gave her her powers, or granted to her during her tenure as Thia's slave. Kole even transported herself on a crystal carpet.

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
