Blackfire is the antagonistic older sister of Starfire. She has made several schemes against her sister to boost her own power and influence on their home world of Tamaran.
History
Early Life
Blackfire was born on the planet Tamaran, the oldest child of King Myand'r and Queen Luand'r. Because she was female, she was passed over as successor to the throne for her younger brother Wildfire.
Five years before Starfire landed on Earth, Tamaran was attacked by an alien species called the Gordanians. Wanting to protect their firstborn son Wildfire, the king and queen put him in a rocket ship and sent him into space. Blackfire then became heir to the throne and sought to rule with an iron fist.
Using her power, Blackfire traded her younger sister Starfire to the Gordanians so that the invaders would leave their planet. Upon losing their second child, the king and queen became ill with grief and died together in their castle, leaving Blackfire to inherit the throne. [1]
First Visit to Earth
Eventually, Blackfire learned that her sister had escaped the Gordanians' capture and formed a super team on Earth known as the Teen Titans. Resentful of Starfire and on the run for crimes she had committed in the Centauri System of space, Blackfire traveled to Earth to terrorize her sister more.
When she arrived, Blackfire initially wooed Starfire's new friends by pretending to be wild, cool, and hip -- everything Starfire was not. Starfire began to doubt her place on the team, until she realized that Blackfire had framed her for the intergalactic crimes she was evading capture for. Starfire cleared her own name, and Blackfire was hauled away to prison, swearing revenge against her sister. [2]
Return to Tamaran
Blackfire later broke from prison and wrested control of Tamaran as its new Grand Ruler. Blackfire attempted to get revenge on Star by forcing her to marry a hideous alien. It was actually part of an elaborate plot to receive a mystical red-colored jewel (which the alien held in his possession) which would make her very powerful and almost invincible, called the Jewel of Charta. When her ruse was uncovered, Blackfire was banished from Tamaran and forced to marry the alien, Glgrdsklechhh.
