Synopsis for "Gathering Tare!"

During one of his jogging runs, Carson spies upon some thieves. He soon realizes that the thieves mean to harm a beautiful woman in the garden. He leaps into action believing he will startle the intruders, instead they turn to fight, with weapons in hand. Though out numbered five-to-one, Carson battles them, but then retreats when he notices several Venusian warriors coming after the intruders too.

Days later, Carson confesses to his guardian, Danus, about the beautiful woman he saw. Danus informs him that she is not to be seen or lusted after, and the two quarrel over the matter. Carson realizes that he no longer wants to leave Venus, for he has seen the princess, and will do anything to meet her face to face.

Carson sneaks back into the garden and confronts the princess. Believing Carson must be a mad person, she threatens him with her sword. Instead of putting up a fight, he confides his love for her and quickly runs away.

Several days past, and Carson is visited by the Jong (king). He informs Carson that his people cannot accept his tale of being from another planet. The good news is, they have also decided he is not their enemy and is now free to come and go as he pleases.

A new guardian named Duran, takes him in and trains him to collect "Tarel" — giant spider webs.

Carson's first hunt for "Tarel" begins in the lush Venusian forest with Duran's son, Kamlot. The two climb up a tree only to find a giant spider ready to protect its web. The spider goes for Kamlot and Carson hacks away with his sword. With the spider dead, Carson climbs back up the tree to his companion, but he is still and not breathing. Further more, Carson realizes he is lost in the vast forest.
