Kordax is an outcast member of the Atlantean royal family and a rival of Aquaman.

Kordax is an ancestor of Aquaman and was born into the Atlantean Royal Family centuries ago. He was abandoned at birth and grew up as a feral child. Despite his advanced age, he has remained alive due to dark magic. He attacked Arthur many times to take vengeance for what was done to him, but was defeated and exiled in disgrace.[1]

Following his defeat, he acquired control of Scorpio by killing their leader and hatched a plan to use them to ensure Arthur's downfall as well as disgrace.[1] He first trapped a holy idol of the Lurkers with Trench pheromones. When the Lurker king Noble attempted to retrieve it with an Atlantean archaeological team, they were attacked by the Trench which caused Aquaman, Mera and the Sea Devils to come to his rescue although they had to go through a very hard fight.[2]

Now that Arthur knew Scorpio was behind the attack on Noble, he had a Scorpio facility in Antarctica uncloaked for the queen Nuada Silverhand to discover. Arthur and the Sea Devils upon investigating the facility trigger a fail safe which activates the destructive machine giant robot called Torpedoman who goes after pure-blood Atlanteans. It's barely stopped in time but the hard-fought victories shake the faith of the Atlanteans and others in Arthur's ability to rule.[3]

After Scorpio starts a pirate broadcast to discredit Aquaman, the Sea Devils and Tula discover their base and come upon Kordax who is officially called "Number One" in the group. All of them are defeated but they broadcast an SOS to Aquaman who reaches there before he can kill them. During their fight, Kordax reveals what he intended to do and Arthur transports their minds to celestial isthmus, which connects Earth's oceans to waters of higher dimensions, using 'the Call' (their marine telepathic ability). Kordax gets eaten by a giant anglerfish spirit, leading him to be lobotomized back on Earth.[1]
