In the mid-20th Century, in Europe, several traditional hereditary monarchies managed to survive both world wars, remaining independent and retaining their original form of government. Among these were Boravia, Carabas, Cornovia, Gardevia, Gavonia, Granaco, Kravia, Markovia, Moldacia, Norania, Numark, Offalia, Pan Balgravia, Ruina, Sardonia, Solvonia, and Valdania. Others, such as Cerania, Emporia, Patrania, or Resbia, are confirmed to have survived the First World War, but are not known to have survived the second.
Even in the late 20th Century, Kravia remained a traditional principality, and was governed very harshly by its sociopathic ruler, Prince Balsik (Kemper Von Cart). The common people were impoverished and downtrodden and very harshly regulated.
When the Extremists invaded this universe, they established themselves as the tyrants in charge of Kravia. The common people were impoverished, downtrodden, very harshly regulated, and greatly reduced in numbers, under the murderous misrule of these super-powered tyrants.
