Krypto was the loyal companion of the first Superman and his family, but was separated from them during the Anti-Life virus outbreak.
History
Krypto was a dog from Krypton and belonged to Clark Kent, the original Superman, as well as his family. During the outbreak of the Anti-Life virus which turned people into the Anti-Living, he was separated from his owners as they focused on saving the survivors and preventing further spread of the infection.[1] He came to the rescue of Detective Chimp, Ace, Amy and Comet in Gotham City when they were being overpowered by the Anti-Living. Krypto then proceeded to destroy the infected with his heat vision and took the four survivors to Poison Ivy's jungle.[2]
He stayed alive on Earth for five years after his owners left. When the Justice League returned to Earth, he spotted Clark's son Jon Kent, now the new Superman, and rushed to space to reunite with him, breaking through Green Lanterns Kilowog and Dinah Lance's barrier. Kilowog initially assumed him to be hostile, but stood down upon knowing he belonged to Jon. He followed the League to where Cyborg had fallen to the infected Wonder Woman. He realized she was coming towards them while they were trying to talk to Cyborg's detached head, but they didn't pay attention when he tried to alert them. After Jon was gravely injured while trying to save her,[1] he stayed by his side until he recovered.[3]
