The Kryptonite Kid was an alien enemy of Superboy.
History
The Kryptonite Kid was once a prisoner on the planet Blor. Facing a 20 year sentence, he volunteered for a scientific experiment, a satellite that required a test passenger. He favored dying in deep space to rotting in jail, with the added bonus of a 10,000 to 1 chance of surviving the test.
He was loaded in the satellite together with a laboratory dog, and the satellite was shot into deep space, never to return. To pass the time, they watched a telescopic viewer of Earth and learned of Superboy's existence. On their course for Earth, they passed through a green cloud of gaseous Kryptonite. Exposure to the Kryptonite turned both him and his dog green, bestowing each of them with Kryptonite-based powers.
Returning to Earth, they challenged Superboy and had the young hero and his dog Krypto on the brink of death. But a young Mr.Mxyzptlk appeared and magically banished The Kryptonite Kid from Earth.
The trickster explained that nobody was going to defeat Superboy except him, and he was reserving Superboy for himself.

- Molecular Reconstruction: By way of physical contact, the Kryptonite Kid can transform solid matter into a Kryptonite.[1] This power was seemingly incapable of being turned against human beings.[2]

- This version of Kryptonite Kid, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
