Quote1 Ha, Ha... the guards' deadly ray-guns are harmless to me, now that I'm invulnerable! I'll get the Sun-Stone and all the other rare jewels! Quote2
Kyl-Ibo src

Kyl-Ibo was part of a gang of kids on Kandor, without a lot of concern for others, who dared a young Ak-Var to steal a Sun-Stone. While Ak-Var was sentenced to the Phantom Zone, Kyl-Ibo was not punished until decades later when he stole the Sun-Stone again.

On pre-cataclysm Krypton, Kyl-Ibo was in a gang with Vas-Quor and Brenn-Bir. They decided it would be funny to dare Ak-Var to steal a sacred Sun-Stone while they waited outside in a flier; but at the first sign of trouble they turned and left Ak-Var there.[1]

Ak-Var was sentenced to 20 to 30 years[2] in the Phantom Zone, but still did not expose Kyl's role in the theft. After which time, Brainiac abducted Kandor, and Kyl-Ibo with it. Kyl lived an unremarkable Kandorian life until Ak-Var was paroled from the Zone and returned to Kandor.

Ak-Var had touched Red Kryptonite when he was briefly free on Earth, and accidentally bequeathed powers to Kyl-Ibo and his two cohorts. Despite Ak-Var covering up Kyl's role in the Sun-Stone theft, and the fact that Ak gave Kyl-Ibo superpowers -- Kyl and his cohorts showed no gratitude, and stole the Sun-stone a second time. Again, they framed Ak-Var for it and attempted to send Superman himself to the Phantom Zone. Superman and Ak-Var succeeded in exposing Kyl, and Kyl was sentenced to the Phantom Zone,[1] until Kandor was restored on Planet Rokyn.

Once Kyl-Ibo was freed from the Zone, he chose to become part of the group of workers restoring Kandor's glory; where he apologized to Superman and Ak-Var for what what he'd done earlier.[3]

Powers

Invulnerability: Due to the interaction of his dense molecular structure and supercharged bio-electric aura, Kyl-Ibo is nigh-invulnerable to extreme energy forces. In addition, his extends this protection against toxins and diseases. Ibo's power only lasted two days, as he gained it as a result of Ak-Var's exposure to Red Kryptonite.[4]
