Lara Lor-Van (Earth-230)

Lara was the wife of master scientist Jor-El and mother of Lex-El. She was accidentally killed by one of Jor-El's experiments on a day celebrating 10,000 years of Kryptonian civilisation, causing him to go mad with grief and destroy Krypton to avenge her, as he blamed all of Krypton for her death. Her death also caused him to develop Omega Fever, which prevented him from gaining superpowers on Earth.

Lara was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, first appearing in the Superman comic strip. However, the Earth-230 version of Lara first appeared in Superman #230 by Cary Bates and Curt Swan.
