In the 853rd century, the Laughing Virus plagued the Batman of Pluto.

History

Sometime in the 21st Century, the Joker was murdered by someone other than Batman. Unwilling to accept such an ignominious death, the Joker blamed Batman for failing to save him, and vowed to torment Batman and his family until he felt satisfied that his death had been avenged.

At some point in the intervening millennia, the Joker's spirit became a sentient computer virus, and thus the Laughing Virus was born.

Unable to defeat the Batman alone, the virus teamed up with OWAC, the archnemesis of Superman, and together they managed to make contact with rogue genies of the Fifth Dimension, who offered them genie powers in exchange for vowels, which are considered an illicit substance in the Fifth Dimension.

Unbeknownst to them, however, the meeting was infiltrated by Batman and Superman in the guise of Pico Moth and Alchemo. After learning the details of their plan, the two heroes busted up the meeting, and a fight ensued. During the fight, the Laughing Virus attempted to possess Superman, but Kal's extra senses allowed him to perceive and thwart the attempt and capture the Virus in a psychic bubble. Shortly after, Mister Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite revealed that they had also infiltrated the meeting, disguised as a ship and a galaxy, and they helped Batman and Superman return OWAC and the Laughing Virus to custody on Pluto.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

• Possession: The Laughing Virus is capable of possessing any electronic system known to man, including the humanoid nervous system. When possessing humanoids, the Laughing Virus' influence causes them to suffer a rictus grin.

Weaknesses

The Laughing Virus lacks a physical body, and can only attack living beings by possessing someone.
