Lawrence "Larry" Jordan operated as the first Air Wave in the Golden Age of superheroes.[1] He would use gadgets and technology to intercept communications, climb walls, and travel along phone lines. His son, Harold Jordan, succeeded him as Air Wave.
History
After his death, Air Wave was among the heroes resurrected by Batman via Black Lantern Ring to fight the forces of the Batman who Laughs.[2]
Paraphernalia
Equipment
- Airwave Equipment: Antennae in helmet and circuitry in belt allowed him to eavesdrop on police band frequencies or intercept telephone calls. Magnetic energies enabled him to climb walls and relieve criminals of their guns.
Transportation
- Airwave Equipment: Traveled at the speed of electricity along telephone lines on collapsible skates built into boots.
Notes
- Lawrence Jordan was created by Harris Levy, first appearing in Detective Comics #60. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Lawrence Jordan first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Dark Nights: Death Metal #5 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.
Trivia
- In the final published version of Stargirl: The Lost Children #1, a new incarnation of Air Wave, Harold Jordan Levey, is identified as "Larry," this character's name.
