Lawrence "Larry" Trainor, also known as Negative Man, is a quiet and secretive member of the Doom Patrol able to project a powerful spirit from his body that can fly and phase through objects.
History
Joining the Doom Patrol
Larry Trainor is a metahuman with the ability to project a powerful spirit called Negative Man, or simply NegMan, from his body that can stretch to awesome lengths, fly, interact with things, and pass through solid objects. He joined the Doom Patrol alongside Robotman and Elasti-Girl and went on many crime-fighting adventures, but being radioactive, he must wear protective bandages at all times and can only remove them in his metal walled rooom.[1][2]
The Timeless Commander
While fighting General Immortus in the desert, Larry separated NegMan from himself, but when NegMan was trapped by Immortus, both began to deteriorate, as the two can never be apart for more than a minute without both dying. Fortunately, Elasti-Girl saved Larry at the last possible second.[1]
The Statue of Liberty Heist
In another mission, the Brotherhood of Evil attempted to steal the Statue of Liberty with their giant robot Rog. While flying the Doom Patrol's jet into battle, Larry sent out NegMan to cover their field of vision, but when the spirit was blasted with Rog's lasers, he retreated back into Larry's body. Larry continued flying the jet as Elasti-Girl took out Rog and Robotman took out Mallah.[2]
Unmasking Madame Rouge
After several failed missions, the team's leader, the Chief, accused the members of the Doom Patrol that one was a spy and impostor, knowing that they would know, as he put it, "our most super-secret informations". Immediately Larry realized that the Chief was the spy based on this obvious grammatical error often committed by the French, called him out on it, and punched him in the jaw. Indeed, the Chief's face squished up, then morphed itself into that of Madame Rouge, the shapeshifting supervillain. She then began to strangle the members of the Doom Patrol, leaving them seemingly no hope of survival.[3]

- NegMan Projection: Negative Man has the ability to project a black energy portion of himself from his body, which he named "NegMan".

- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the Doom Patrol and is an adaptation of Larry Trainor/Negative Man. The original character was created by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani and first appeared in My Greatest Adventure #80.
