Synopsis for "Heresy"
After the relief of reverting back to their human form, the Tibetan expedition team go to Carter Hall's extraterrestrial treasure exhibition. When the exhibition was over, the expedition team bid farewell to the night watchman Winston. All of a sudden, the mummies from the Egyptian wing rose up from their sarchophigies and strangled Winston. Hawkman and Hawkgirl hear Winston's final cries for help before he falls to the floor dead. Hawkman and Hawkgirl destroy the mummies. Hawkgirl suspects that Thasaro's presence at the museum may have reanimated the mummies. Hawkman and Hawkgirl plead with Krandor Vat, the High Mor of Thanagar to authorize the removal of Thasaro's urn from Earth and have it brought back to Thanagar. Krandor reluctantly agrees to bring their request before the council. The supreme holy minister of Thanagar Kartez proclaims that the Earth should no longer suffer for Thasaro's sins and the urn's return to Thanagar would preserve the ancient heritage as well as the spiritual unity of Thanagar. As the keeper of the eternal flame, Kartez's words sway the council to approve the removal and transfer of Thasaro's urn. The council dispatches a security force to Earth in order to retrieve the urn. During their departure, the security force is attacked and murdered by Thasaro followers led by Kartez. Meanwhile on Earth, Commissioner George Emmet asks Hawkman and Hawkgirl to be the godparents of his child. Hawkgirl is touched but at the same time saddened. Shayera's ordeal when she was taken into the caverns beneath Thasaro's chamber left her scarred in way that made her infertile to have children. Kartez and his followers assume the guise of the security force and steal Thasaro's urn. Hawkman and Hawkgirl follow the ion trail left by Kartez's ship back to Thanagar. When the urn arrived in Thanagar, chaos and civil unrest broke out through out the planet. When Thasaro is freed from his prison once again, he destroys his followers because Kartez proclaimed himself to be Thasaro's master. Thasaro intends to destroy Katar's adopted planet as a means of revenge.
