Synopsis for "Forced Friends, Deadly Consequences"
The new recruits of the Legion practice on their combat skills on a virtual reality system when they are called to their Headquarters to meet even more members from across the United Planets. After a brief conflict due to misunderstanding, the Legionnaires assemble under team leader Colossal Boy to learn that their first mission is to investigate pirating along shipping routes.
They arrive at a derelict ship and split into teams to investigate. When Saturn Girl gets enmeshed in a mysterious sticky substance, several Legionnaires run off to figure out who or what did it to her. They encounter Tangleweb, who has put the crew of the ship into cocoons and assaults the Legion. Kid Quantum chases after the retreating Tangleweb but his stasis belt shorts out and the creature kills him.
Tangleweb escapes into hyperspace as Colossal Boy and Cosmic Boy chase him. Colossal Boy takes the loss of Kid Quantum personally and hands over LSH leadership to Cosmic Boy and then tenders his resignation. Cos refuses to accept it and encourages him to stay.
