The Light Speed Vangaurd are a superhero team consisting of Lightning Lord the brother of Lightning Lad and their leader, the firece Hunter, the telepath Esper, Tyr the cyborg , Wave, and the shapeshifter Ron-Karr.

History

The team, pretend to be superheroes and attempt to out-perform the Legion of Super-Heroes. However, they are soon revealed to be financially motivated protector-extortionists and assassins.

The team, minus Lightning Lord, return to help the Fatal Five battle the Legion. Now led exclusively by Tyr, they appear as one of several teams of villains released from prison by Imperiex.

It is Brainiac 5 that actually officially refers to them as the Legion of Super-Villains.
