Holocaust is a superpowered criminal who operated in Dakota City and aimed to take control over the city.
History
Origins
Leonard was just one of the many black kids who lived in Dakota City, as a child he and his father used to participate in illegal dog fights where one night their dog lost and his father forced him to kill it to teach him a lesson. As a teenager, he was often harrassed by the police, one night after being stopped by a group of racist cops he witnessed the police officers brutally beat a man who had intervened to help.
He worked as a drug dealer nicknamed "Vato" until he was involved in the Big Bang and obtained his powers, he then killed his employer, changing his name to Holocaust, and decided to take over the city.[1]
Blood Syndicate
He quickly started amassing a power base and recruited other superhumans created by the incident to use them as foot soldiers in the oncoming war, he also started approaching common criminals, recruiting those who agreed to serve him and killing those who refused to do so.[2]
During one of his recruitment rounds he tried to convince some local criminals to join him but ended up blowing them up when they refused accidentaly involved Hannibal White, who was there by chance and was later arrested as he was the prime suspect for the bombing.[3] He then attacked the police station where Hannibal was held and killed all the cops, he noticed Hannibal and recognized him from his first attack and deducted that he was invulnerable but as soon as he confronted him about that he was attacked by Aquamaria, Tech-9 and Fade who had come to Hannibal's rescue and, taking him by surprise, managed to stun him and escape.[4]
He quickly recovered and followed them outside where he killed the assembled cops before leaving to start his attack over the city by destroying the bridge that connected the city to the rest of the state.[5]
While he was planning the rest of the assault he was attacked by Rocket who had come to stop his attack but after a brief fight he won by burning off the the oxygen that surrounded her, he was then attacked by Icon who enraged about Rocket's condition, intimated him to surrender, as an answer Holocaust simply signaled one of his superhuman soldiers to attack, who quickly defeated Icon by entering his body through his lungs and poisoning him.
He taunted the weakened Icon and told him about the oppression suffered by his ancestors and how that had taught him that the only way to survive was to control or destroy all, then he let Rocket take Icon to safety as he had proved to them that he was superior but before he had a chance to gloat he was confronted by the Blood Syndicate.[1]
Despite their valiant efforts, Holocaust started to slowly kill them one by one but his victory was short lived as Flashback went back in time and warned her friends who this time attacked him much more brutally and left him no chance to defend himself as Fade phased him in the ground and trapped him, Holocaust started to threaten them and warned them about his inevitable return but before he had a chance to finish Tech-9 shot him in the head and killed him, ending his reign before it had a chance to truly begin.[6]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Bang Baby Physiology: Leonard's DNA was altered by a mutagenic gas during the event called Big Bang, as a result his physical abilities have been enhanced to superhuman levels and he has obtained the power to generate flames.
- Superhuman Strength: Holocaust's strength has been greatly enhanced by the Big Bang, he can easily lift a man by the throat with a single arm and throw him around with no effort.[2] During his fight with Wise Son he grabbed him and threw him away with enough strength to make him land in a different part of the city.
- Superhuman Durability: Holocaust's body is extremely resistant to most forms of damage. A powerful blast of energy from Tech-9 hitting him square in the chest with enough power to send him crashing in a wall could only temporarily stun him.[4] His durability also allows him to take blows from superhumanly strong opponents like Rocket[1] and Wise Son with only limited damage.[6] He can also shrug off most weapon fire from Tech-9 with only moderate discomfort.[6]
- Pyrokinesis: Holocaust's most easily recognizable superhuman ability is to produce flames from his body.[7] His flames can burn even intangible people like Fade.[6]
- Thermal-Blast: Holocaust can project his flames outward for offensive purposes. He can generate devastating explosions from his body capable of killing all nearby people and setting entire buildings on fire.[3] He can easily incinerate other people and can even melt cars.[4] He can generate enough power to blow up a bridge.[5]
Abilities
- Leadership: Leonard successfully created and led a gang of superhumans for many months.[2]
- Tactical Analysis: Leonard is a good strategist, he created a successful plan to take over the city and gathered information on Icon and Rocket for a strategy to quickly take them out if needed.[1]
- Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced): A life on the streets of Dakota City made Holocaust a skilled fighter capable of engaging other superhumans who went through military training.[6]
- Multilingualism: Due to have a Haitian father Holocaust has knowledge of Creole.[1]
