Red Star was a Russian superhero and reserve member of the Teen Titans.
History
A soldier in the Russian military, captain Leonid Kovar was selected to be subject of an experiment to create the perfect soldier. The energies and gasses Leonid was exposed to mutated his body, causing his height to increase and his muscle mass to expand exponentially. While the experiment seemed successful at first, testing of Leonid's new powers revealed an unforeseen side effect. Like a nuclear reactor, the energy powering Leonid would build up and need periodic release, or the results could be disastrous! After the destruction of his home village, Leonid sealed himself inside an abandoned nuclear power plant, only venturing out to get supplies.
Following an attack by Sergeant H.I.V.E. and his Army Brats, Robin decided the Teen Titans, now including their larger, expanded roster, needed a change in leadership.[2] Therefore, Red Star was invited to join a new subsect of the Titans, dubbed Titans North. [3]

- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the television series Teen Titans, the animated shorts that continued the series, and its tie-in comic book series Teen Titans Go!. It is an adaptation of Red Star. The original character was created by Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, and Bill Draut and first appeared in Teen Titans #18.
