Lernaea is an ancient and powerful Ocean Elemental with the personality of a young girl. Formerly a minion of the Ocean Master, she is now an ally of the Aquaman Family.
History
A primal nature effigy conjured by some daemon artisans called forth at Lord Dagon's request, the ocean element called Lernaea would be left at the bottom of a deep oceanic trench when after Dagon's people turned upon and killed the mad king.[1]
Some generations later Arthur's half brother, an Atlantean convict named Orm would happen upon her sunken home in the trench she was left to toil away in. Asking if he was a king, Lernaea would offer him power to escape the crushing depths. Providing her new liege the amulet which once belonged to another monarch in exchange for both their freedom.[1]
Orm would oblige her and in return, he would use her power to topple an oceanic rig captained by Marine Marauder after he'd dispatched it's former owner as a show of authority. First by destroying his new wards control reliquary then commanding her to do his bidding irregardless without the bauble as a means of demonstrating to Apex Luthor he neither wants nor cares for his dark gift.
From then on the two would found the new undersea kingdom calling it the City of Dagon, the two secretly whisking away many of the lost and forgotten citizenship of Atlantis's impoverished and unwanted as it's new subjects.[1]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Elemental: Her body is composed of sentient water.[2]
- Amphibian: Lernaea can survive in air or water indefinitely.[1]
- Self-Sustenance: Lernaea survived for centuries at the bottom of a deep trench in the sea floor without food.[1]
- Superhuman Strength: She is strong enough to knock away Atlanteans with a single blow.[3]
- Immortality: Lernaea is centuries old and does not appear to age.[1]
- Hydrokinesis: Lernaea is able to manipulate vast quantities of water to a variety of effects, up to an including creating tsunamis and waterspouts.[1] Her control is sufficient to prevent someone as powerful as Mera manipulating the water comprising her own body.[2]
- Size Alteration: She can grow to immense sizes if she wishes.[1]
- Metamorphosis: She can reshape her own body to engulf another person within the water making up her physical form.[2]
Weaknesses
- Naivety: Despite her immense age and power, Lernaea has the mind of a young child, which makes her easily fooled and manipulated.
