Professor Lewis Lang was an archaeologist and Metropolis University professor. He was the father of Daily Star television critic Lana Lang.
History
Professor Lang grew up in Smallville and was a friend of John Kent. He later moved to Metropolis, becoming a professor of archaeology.[1]
While on a dig in Egypt, Lang unearthed the mystical scarab brooch that later transformed his daughter into the Insect Queen.[2]
Superman met Professor Lang when he sought him out in Egypt and was given information regarding the mystical brooch.[3]

- Professor Lewis Lang first appeared in Earth-One continuity in Superboy #10 by Bill Finger and John Sikela. He was introduced in Earth-Two continuity in Superman Family #215 by E. Nelson Bridwell and Irv Novick.
- Although his only on-panel appearance was in Superman Family #215, Professor Lang was first mentioned in Superman Family #203.
- This version of Professor Lewis Lang, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022–2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
