Liberty Belle is a legacy name used by American-themed super-heroes with enhanced strength, speed and stamina. The original was a journalist named Libby Lawrence active during World War II. These abilities were activated by ringing of the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, as she is connected to the spirit of America. Her husband was Johnny Quick and their daughter Jesse grew up to become Jesse Quick, although she later began using her mother's costume. She has been a member of the All-Star Squadron and the Justice Society of America. Liberty Belle was created by Don Cameron and Chuck Winter, first appearing in Boy Commandos #1. (1942)
