After the events of Blackest Night caused the end of the universe, Lobo was one of only a few beings in the universe left without a Black Lantern Ring, due to the Rings being unable to bypass his Czarnian regeneration.
History
He was hired by Mister Miracle to rescue another survivor, Dove. The trio worked with Sinestro, to try and heal the universe and destroy the Black Lantern Rings, by combining Dove's peaceful energy and the Source Wall's power. The plan fell through, however, when Mister Miracle betrayed the group, choking Dove to death to stop the act from killing his Black Lantern wife, Big Barda. Lobo killed Miracle in turn, leaving only him and Sinestro left alive.
Sinestro, however, realized that the Lobo's regenerating body could be used as a substitute for Dove. He hooked Lobo up to Miracle's device, completing the plan and eradicating the Black Lanterns. New life was birthed throughout the universe, but Sinestro soon saw that all of the new species and organisms had inherited Lobo's savage bloodthirst and warlike tendencies. An entire universe of violent, savage murderers, worshipping the original as their god.
