Synopsis for "Paid in Blood"
In the planet Ysmault's orbit, numerous bodies of dead Lantern ring-bearers float aimlessly through space. On Ysmault, inside a station, blood pools from a pile of dead Red Lanterns. The blood begins to bubble, and from it, Atrocitus, Bleez, Dex-Starr and the Rage Mother all resurrect themselves and regrow from the blood. Several imprisoned aliens are present for the resurrection, and Red Lantern rings fly from the blood and seek out each alien. Once every alien gains a ring, Atrocitus recounts how the Rage Mother had been killed by the Yellow Lanterns. Blood begins spilling from the newly appointed Red Lanterns' mouths, and the blood forms into Red Lantern uniforms for each of them. As Atrocitus stands before all his Rede Lanterns that are present, he begins to rally them, but is interrupted when several small, silver spheres hover into the room, and lock on to each Red Lantern.
Atrocitus screams at the Lanterns to defend their home, but tall the spheres fire, each firing a red laser that connects with another, until a giant laser wall is formed, which kills several of the lanterns. As the Lanterns begin fleeing, Dex-Starr sniffs the air, and locks onto the scent of their attacker. Dec-starr flies into the air, something sharp slices through the air, cutting Dex-Starr in half. Lobo shows himself, stepping out from around the wall, carrying a sword, which is apparently melting at the blade, after coming in contact with Dex-Starr's body. Atrocitus, furious at Lobo for Dex-Starr's demise, vows to avenge Atrocitus, and sis the other Lanterns on Lobo. The Lanterns begin to surround Lobo, and he notes that the blood spilling from their mouths seems as though it will eat through anything.
The first Lantern makes a move, blasting Lobo into a wall with her ring. Lobo wips out a gun, shooting down another Lantern. Atrocitus punches Lobo, and puts his face right above Lobo's, so that blood pours off of him and lands on Lobo's face. The blood severely burns the right half of Lobo's face, and Lobo realizes that he won't be able to heal fast enough to continue his fight with the Lanterns at that moment, he sits up, and head-butts Atrocities, knocking the Lantern backwards. With Atrocitus stunned, Lobo uses the momentary distraction to fire a grappling hook through another Lantern's chest. He takes out another small, silver, spherical object, and jams it into the Lantern's mouth, right before punching the Lantern away from him. The device turns out to be a grenade, which explodes, blowing the alien to pieces from the inside. Atrocious recovers, only to find that Lobo is gone. He and the remaining Lanterns hurry down the corridor, in search of the Czarnian. Atrocities finds a stone statue, which explodes, incapacitating Atrocitus. Lobo, hiding, hears the explosion, which confirms that the trap was triggered. In another few moments, Lobo's wounds completely heal, and he prepares to dace them again. The female Lantern stumbles down the corridor, looking for Atrocitus, but Lobo sneaks up behind her and throws two blades at her, impaling her. He then finishes her off with his dual guns, and moves on. Lobo thinks to himself that he almost feels bad killing them, since they're so drunk on rage that they'd never see him coming.
Suddenly, A giant, revived Atrocitus smashes through the wall, heading straight for Lobo. He claws Lobo, sending him flying backward. Atrocities takes the opportunity to fire energy from his ring at Lobo, but Lobo recovers and leaps at him, guns blazing. atrocities dodges, and bites Lobo in the arm. Lobo delivers an uppercut to Atrocitus' chin, stunning him, and propelling him backwards. While Atrocitus is stunned, lobo takes out a knife, and charges him, jamming the knife into his heart. Not wasting any time, Lobo takes out his guns again and begins shooting Atrocitus to bits. With Atrocitus' blood and organs spattered along the walls, Lobo leaves, in search of the power battery. Lobo finds the location, but doesn't find the battery. He assumes that the other Lanterns must have made off with it.
Elsewhere, Rage mother and Bleez begin coughing up blood again, which pools. From it, comes the newly resurrected Red Lanterns who had been killed during their fight with Lobo. Atrocitus also emerges from the blood, more powerful than ever.
