Lord Nor accuses Clark of treason, and wants him put on trial before Kryptonian Law. Clark is pronounced guilty, and sentenced to death. However, soon after, Nor's true motives and intentions are revealed, to the chagrin of Lord Trey, the chief of the tribunal. Synopsis for "Battleground Earth"

Lord Nor accuses Clark of treason, and wants him put on trial before Kryptonian Law. Clark is pronounced guilty, and sentenced to death. However, soon after, Nor's true motives and intentions are revealed, to the chagrin of Lord Trey, the chief of the tribunal. As Nor leaves with his soldiers to destroy Metropolis, Ching points out to Trey that a single escape clause exists - Kal-El was never informed of the old and obscure, but still valid law allowing trial by combat for nobility, invalidating any verdict. With at least part of the nobility now on Kal-El's side, Nor agrees to the duel. Ching trains Clark in the use of the traditional Kryptonian dueling weapons, although Clark does have trouble mastering the proper mindset. Next day, during the duel, Clark manages to knock out Nor, but then Nor's men appear and knock out Clark in turn. Right then, Colonel Cash releases a grenade with Kryptonite laced gas to kill all involved, but, luckily for Clark's, he is unconscious, so Nor and his soldiers absorb most of the gas, and, lacking Superman's resistance from previous encounters, all perish. After that, Zara and Ching leave to rule New Krypton, and Clark makes a final proposal to Lois.
