Synopsis for "Neverending Battle"

Hoping to better know his new nemesis, Lex Luthor devises a series of tests to calculate the extent of Superman's powers. To this end, he utilizes a number of his employees in his scheme. Luthor first tests Superman's speed by timing how long it takes him to save a woman falling off a building, and then detonating a bomb in Superman's face to see if it would damage him.

While Clark deals with Lex Luthor, Lois desperately tries anything possible to get the scoop on the Superman story, from stealing Clark's story on Superman's bomb experience, to listening to a man that claims to be Grover Cleveland share his story of alien abduction by a race of Superman clones.

Eventually, Clark figures out that Lex Luthor is behind the tests, and confronts him, displaying his feats of speed and strength. While impressed, Luthor downplays Superman's display, and tells him that innocent people will die the longer Superman stays in Metropolis.

Undaunted, Superman remains in Metropolis, proclaiming the city to be his permanent home. Hearing the news, Luthor confides in his adviser Asabi that even though Superman has proven to be a fierce opponent, his strict morals and ethics will ultimately be his downfall.
