Lois Lane was a journalist who worked at the Daily Planet and married Lex Luthor, who was a scientist as well as a businessman.
History
Lex's obsession with bringing down Superman while ignoring her sometimes left her upset.
When Superman stopped the Soviet Zenit satellite crash landing in Metropolis and told Americans how they had been deluded, she dared him for an interview. Superman found her afterwards and debated with her about which country and system was better.
After Lois handed Superman a top secret government file, which was given to her by Lex, detailing imprisonment and mass-execution of people in gulags under the regime of Joseph Stalin, he left and decided to find out the truth for himself.
Eventually, she became the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet after Perry White retired. She was horrified after Lex deliberately overloaded Superior Man with power in order to kill the Soviet Premier Superman, causing her to react in disgust at him.
Some time later, Luthor got elected as the President of the United States and she was made the White House Press Secretary, in addition to her role as the First Lady. When Superman decided to invade America and landed at an undefended White House, she gave him the bottled city of Stalingrad, as part of Luthor's plan.
Stating that the city represented his actions as a dictator and making him realize that Brainiac had the necessary technology to restore it back to full size but didn't because it was how he treated the world, she caused him to relent from his path. Brainiac however refused to stand down, revealing that he never was under his control.
As Superman and Brainiac fought, Lex donning a warsuit saved Lois from being crushed and Superman took Brainiac's ship away into space to save Earth. After the defeat of Brainiac, Lex resigned as President. During his resignation speech, she was surprised to see a disguised Kal, who disappeared among the crowd after smiling at her. Realizing it was him, she felt happy that he still lived, now as an ordinary citizen. Later, she told Lex that she preferred spending more time with him now that he's retired.
