The Lowlies represent the absolute dregs of the New Gods. A collection of impoverished citizens, they dwell in the "Armagetto" district of Apokolips.
History
Hunger Dogs
Living a life of absolute poverty and abuse, the Lowlies had to work hard and scavenge to get their food. That sentiment lead a group of them to form a rebel group, known as the Hunger Dogs, led by Jovita. This secret group smuggled food from the war machines and gave them to those in need. However, the presence of Orion in Apokolips drew Darkseid's attention to this group, and they were hunted by Tyrus and Kalibak. Orion helped them escape, and they had to find a new hideout and organize their forces again.[1]
Earth 2
The DC Universe heavily changed its continuity into the DCnU following the events of Flashpoint in 2011. This was part of an effort to make storylines more accessible to newer readers, beginning with the New 52. This new timeline combines elements from the DCU, Vertigo Universe and Wildstorm Universe while drastically changing the origins and histories of characters.
