The DC Universe heavily changed its continuity into the DCnU following the events of Flashpoint in 2011. This was part of an effort to make storylines more accessible to newer readers, beginning with the New 52. This new timeline combines elements from the DCU, Vertigo Universe and Wildstorm Universe while drastically changing the origins and histories of characters.

Earth 2

In the new 52 the Hunger Dogs are a team based on Earth 2 and work for Steppenwolf. The members include power-house Brutaal, Doctor Bedlam, and The Beguiler. The team first appeared when both the new Wonders of the World and World Army launched their invasion on Dherain in order to capture Steppenwolf. The Hunger Dogs first came into contact with the new Wonders and quickly defeated them, but spared their lives for an unknown reason. After defeating the new Wonders the Hunger Dogs went to the aid of Steppenwolf's army and began to slaughter the World Army's forces. During this Onslaught Hunger Dog Brutaal killed the World Army leader Stormy Foster.

As the World Army retreated the new Wonders returned to help in the retreat. Green Lantern attempted to kill Steppenwolf, but before he could Brutaal stepped in and helped Steppenwolf defeat him. As the World Army retreated Steppenwolf attempt to declare himself as the master of Earth, but as he did Brutaal killed Steppenwolf and revealed himself to be Superman.
