History

The Lucky Hand Triad was the biggest gang in Gotham City's Chinatown, and its leader, Ekin Tzu, had plans to expand its reach to outside its borders.[1] The Lucky Hand Triad dominates crime in Chinatown and is a major trafficker of heroin.[2][3]

When Ra's al Ghul attempted to addict first Gotham and then the rest of America with a new type of drug, his operative Whisper manipulated the Lucky Hand Triad into going to war against the Odessa Mob by having his wife Mei Ling murdered and framing the Russians.[4] The Lucky Hand Triad formed an alliance with the Burnley Town Massive against both the Odessa Mob and the Colombians of the Escabedo Cartel which led to the capture and execution of Vasily Kosov and Emmanuel Escabedo.[5]

The Lucky Hand Triad agreed to produce and distribute the new drug, and Ekin Tzu was given an elixer by Whisper which mutated him into a human-bird hybrid (and was informed by Whisper that it was her to had his wife murdered).[6] The Gotham branch of the Sicilian Mafia was then approached for help to distribute the drug nationwide, at which point Batman crashed the meeting and put a stop to Ra's Al Ghul's plans.[7]

When drug addicts were dying from poisoned heroin supplied by the Lucky Hand Triad, it was determined that someone was tampering with the heroin after the Triad imported and distributed the drugs and before it reached the customers. During Batman's investigation, Ekin Tzu who had turned against the Triad murdered the current leader of the Lucky Hand Triad, Liu Xiao Ling (a woman).[8] Early during the start of the great gang war, the Lucky Hand Triad was one of the mobs which lost its leader (Kwan Lin, another woman) at the gang meeting. They couldn't agree on a successor and fell into factional infighting.[9]
