Lycus was the son of Ares and a rival to his champion, Cassandra Sandsmark.

Lycus was born 3000 years ago in Libya as the son of Ares, the god of war. As a devoted follower of Ares, he ruled his kingdom with a iron fist until he died. However, he has recently been granted a second life by his father. He has been enabled to take the power granted from Ares to Cassandra Sandsmark until he has enough power to kill her.

With the aid of his Hellhound, he managed to kill several people including Marvin, a civilian member of the Teen Titans. Later, a weakened Cassandra was warned of Ares' plot by Zeus, minutes before Lycus was about to challenge her to a battle to the death. Cassandra was victorious when she cast away the power Ares had given her and fought Lycus using her own innate powers as a demigoddess.

  • Demi-God Physiology: He was eventually granted similar abilities by Ares to become the Earthly embodiment of the god of war. Every time he kills someone in Ares name while his champion, Wonder Girl, is near, Lycus would be granted more of Ares' power and Wonder Girl would grow weaker.
    • Superhuman Strength: His partial Olympian flesh and bone is about one and a half times as dense as similar human tissue, contributing to the Olympians' superhuman strength and weight.
    • Superhuman Speed: He can move at supersonic speeds. He can move fast enough to not register in the normal peripheral range of humans and seemingly vanish and disappear at will. At this speed, his mind processes information at least on a subliminal level that he is aware of her surroundings. He is fast enough to deflect and catch bullets.
    • Superhuman Durability: If he were somehow wounded, his partial godly energies would enable him to recover with superhuman speed.
    • Flight: Lycus can also mystically fly through the atmosphere through an act of sheer will, enabling him to soar through the atmosphere at sub-orbital levels and travel across the planet. He is immune from the effects of extreme height, such as dizziness and lightheadedness.
