Invisible Kid is a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
History
A child prodigy, Lyle Norg became interested in physics at an early age. His greatest invention was a serum that bends light around his body and clothing, rendering him invisible at will. The United Planets became interested in Lyle's discovery and enlisted him to do some investigative word for them. Although security considerations prevent him from discussing that period of his life, his close friendship with Chameleon suggests that Lyle spent time on Durla.[2]
A few years later, Lyle arranged to have himself drafted into the Legion as Invisible Kid. His motive for joining remains unclear, but his value to the team has been proven many times over. His intuitive grasp of applied science led him to create the Legion Flight Rings. His sharp mind, ingenuity and charismatic personality serve him well as a leader of the Legion.[2]
To investigate matters that do not fall under the Legion's proper jurisdiction, Lyle formed the top secret Legion Espionage Squad. The makeup of the squad is known only to its members.[2]
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Invisibility: Invisible Kid can turn himself and his clothing invisible at will. His invisibility cloaks himself from many types of detection: ocular, auditory and telepathic. He has been known to "layer" the effect, hidding his hair, shin, muscle, etc. With extreme effort, he can make others invisible too.[2]
Abilities
Weaknesses
- Vulnerability to Detection: Although unseen, Lyle can be located by means of radar, hyper sensitive hearing or by being covered in fluorescent dust. He usually cannot turn objects he is carrying invisible. (see "Powers" above)
Paraphernalia
Equipment
- Legion Flight Ring: All Legionnaires were presented with a flight ring that enabled them to defy gravity and sustain movement through the air by aerodynamically generating force.
Notes
- According to DC Comics Encyclopedia: The Definitive Guide to The Characters of the DC Universe (2004), Lyle was in a homosexual relationship with Condo Arlik. This, however, was never stated explicitly in the comic book itself and a follow up creative team never went through with this storyline.
