Professional History

Manly Wade Wellman was a writer first published in Weird Tales in 1927. He wrote for comics from 1940 into the early 1950s and was one of the early Spirit contributors when Will Eisner got drafted. He is perhaps best known for his three somewhat interconnected story sequences about occult investigators Judge Pursuivant and John Thunstone and his most lasting creation, John the Balladeer, all of which fall into the genre best described as folklore fantasy.
