Madame Xanadu (Volume 2) #10 is an issue of the series Madame Xanadu (Volume 2) with a cover date of June, 2009.
Synopsis for "Chapter the Last: Of The Future, Part 2"
Madame Xanadu has bound the Phantom Stranger! Zatara is upset that she did this to his guest. A battle between the two erupts, but the Phantom Stranger quickly intercedes and transports Madame Xanadu and himself to a different aspect of reality that is free from linear time and analogous space. The Phantom Stranger tries to resolve the differences of their "association". Xanadu is upset at their relationship being referred to this way, and that she does not know anything about him after all of this time. The Stranger states that he was charged to exist the way he does shortly after the beginning of time itself. Xanadu realizes that he was never trapped in her spell. The Stranger admits that he was just pretending to be trapped so that he could try to convince her to join his group of magic-users that he is trying to gather for the coming age of heroes. They argue about morality, and Madame Xanadu's precognition, and her intended actions, of a tremendous upcoming tragedy is questioned. The Phantom Stranger decides that perhaps it is best that Madame Xanadu does not join his group and departs. Madame Xanadu then writes a "Dear, John" to Zatara and departs.
Madame Xanadu once more portents the death of Jim Corrigan and the coming of the Spectre, and decides to do nothing except visit the place where he died. She sees the Spectre Entity rise from the depths and immediately regrets her own inaction – that she has unleashed the Spirit of Vengeance on an unsuspecting world!
Years later, filled with regret for what had occurred – allowing the Spectre to be created in a vendetta against the Phantom Stranger – Madame Xanadu decides to open up a shop, to expiate her past misdeeds, and offer her services to anyone in need.
