Leaving the elders to their personal shame, Majestic makes it deeper into the Ark, finally reaching the ‘Godhead’, the Ark’s central processor, where he finds the remains of an alien warrior named Sabrol, the only member of the Plenary to attempt to commune with the Godhead. Phoment arrives and attempts to redeem himself by helping Majestic break further into the Godhead. The two then learn that the Ark’s long-lost mission was to rescue the populations of planets and get them to safety while leaving Vedettes to delay an ancient enemy advance.
