Malagigi was court wizard and trusted advisor to Charlemagne, King of the Franks.

After the death of the female knight Bradamante, Malagigi raised her daughter Valda and made it possible for her to become a knight.

Malagigi first met the Native American warrior Arak when they were both imprisoned by an enemy. After their escape, the two men went to Charlemagne's court. Malagigi was later captured by the sorceress Angelica, and Charlemagne sent Arak on a long quest to rescue him. After his rescue, Malagigi had many adventures with Arak, but the two eventually departed.[1]
