Malcolm Merlyn, born as Arthur King, was a former member of the League of Assassins in the Arrowverse. He adapts some elements from the DC Universe character Merlyn. Malcolm was a powerful and wealthy businessman in Star City and an enemy of Green Arrow, known under the names Dark Archer and Al Sāḥir (Arabic for The Magician). He was also the father of Tommy Merlyn and Thea Queen, and a member/ally of Legion of Doom, H.I.V.E., and the Thanatos Guild. Merlyn joined the league in order to avenge his wife's death in the Glades.
Malcolm Merlyn was created by Moira Kirkland and Lana Cho, first appearing in the Arrow episode An Innocent Man (2012). His first appearance in the comics regular continuity took place in Batman Incorporated (Volume 2) #4 (2012), by Grant Morrison.
