Synopsis for "Prelude to Havoc"

Mark Shaw is shopping at the corner deli which is robbed by two street criminals. Mark does nothing to prevent it, a fact angrily pointed out by Han Kim, the deli owner. Mark insists he's not a super-hero and doesn't fight crime. Despite this, he changes to Manhunter and captures the criminals taking a salami as payment. After filing a report at the police station, Mark returns home and checks his phone answering machine. Message one is from Amanda Waller prompting him yet again to dig up info on Argent. Message two is from Eliot. They managed to clear up all warrants in Japan caused by the Dumas adventure. Message three is from Mr. Falcone of Falcone Industries setting up a meeting for tomorrow morning. Mark attends but is suspicious of the cheesy location and Falcone's associates. They tell Mark they want him to find Miss Anna-Marie Vere, a 24-year old who has run away from her grandfather. Mark points out that she's legally an adult and that retrieving her would be a criminal act, thus he refuses the assignment. Zeke Pikara, another bounty hunter with a reputation for reckless violence, arrives and the job is given to him. Mark leaves telling himself he doesn't care and it's none of his business but after several hours, he realizes that he needs to protect Anna-Marie from Pikara. He goes to one of his sources, a fortune teller named Sister Sassie, who learns Pikara went to CUNY. There, Mark learns that Anna's favorite teacher is Deborah Strasser. Deborah agrees to contact Anna and arranges a meeting. Anna reveals her grandfather is Control, leader of Argent and that she heard Argent was targeting the Suicide Squad. Mark tells Anna she must go with him to meet Amanda Waller. Power to the city block goes out and Mark realizes that Pikara is near. Pikara attacks them as they try to leave the building. Mark and Pikara fight but Pikara is ultimately taken down by a drugged dart fired by Mr. Falcone. Mark and Anna head off to Belle Reve.
