Synopsis for "Forgotten, Part Two"
Blue Beetle and Kate get into a minor scuffle because Jaime's scarab is responding to the Shadow-Thief tracker on Kate's chest. Shadow-Thief's ability is based off of Darkstar tech and Darkstars are one of many sworn enemies to the Reach. Jaime tells his scarab to stand down and explains that Kate isn't a Darkstar. Kate explains why she is in Juarez and asks Jaime if he knows anybody that is affiliated with the Mexican criminal underworld. Jaime points her in the direction of La Dama and offers his assistance. Kate's meeting with La Dama raises more questions for Kate and why Director Bones didn't want her there. La Dama says that the DEO are involved in Ciudad Juarez. They keep to their operations and they leave hers alone.
Kate calls Bones and demands answers but he continues to stonewall her. Kate tries to agitate Bones in order for him to divulge more information. She brings up how his mother was just like these women who are being used and killed. She also expresses her disappointment that an African American like Bones would turn a blind eye to people of another race who are suffering right now. Bones hangs up on Kate and calls Amanda Waller. Kate makes an attempt to get in Vesetech in order to get more answers but she is unsuccessful. Kate paces on the street when a van pulls up. The shadowy figure in the van tells Kate that she is on the right track with Vesetech but they aren't just murdering women. Its something far worse.
Within Vesetech, Marta awakes in a sterilized operating room. Marta cries out for help and a woman walks up to her with a scalpel. The woman introduces her self as Anica Balcescu, a Romanian widow, accomplished surgeon and survivor of Ceausescu's reign of tyranny. The people at Vesetech have come to know Anica as the Crime Doctor.
Meanwhile at the Rancho Royale apartments in Hollywood, Dylan's ex wife Linda and their son Jovan are living with her father. Linda's father was watching Jeopardy when Linda took her soon to the public pool. Linda gets in her car and starts the ignition. All of a sudden the doors locked automatically and the car starts dispersing Joker's Smylex gas. Both Linda and her son die from exposure. On that same day, Dylan receives a strange package. Dylan opens the package and the head of his old friend Jimmy sprang up and down like a Jack in the Box. Dylan immediately figures out that Jimmy ratted him out to the Joker, one of Dylan's many employers.
Linda and Jovan were last seen in Manhunter Vol 3 #2.
