Synopsis for "Trial by Fire, Part 2: Witness for the Prosecution"
Shadow-Thief has been assigned Joshua Logan, a public defender during his trial. The first witness to take the stand during the court hearing is Hawkman. Logan drudges up that Hawkman was implicated by the St. Roch police force in a series of murders a while back. Hawkman explodes for Logan's insinuations. Hawkman's outbursts weakens the prosecution's defense. Superman is called in as a rebuttal witness for the prosecution but Logan pokes and prods at Superman's faults as well. Kate leaves the courtroom feeling unsure on how the jury will lean when they are excused to deliberate. Kate goes to start her car and notices that it is rigged to blow. Kate narrowly escapes her vehicle before it is engulfed in a fiery explosion. The explosion causes a black out and Shadow-Thief's armed escort is left in the dark. All of a sudden, each member of Shadow-Thief's escort is attacked and killed by Cheshire.
Meanwhile, Dan Richards, a former Manhunter, is walking with his dog Thor through the woods. They arrive at Richards' cabin but Thor senses something amiss and starts barking. Thor goes after the source of his distress but Richards thinks its just another squirrel. A moment later, Thor is thrown through a window and falls onto the floor of the cabin. A shadowy figure enters Richards cabin and kills Richards by snapping his neck.
