Manny was an imaginary creature tied to the traditions of Slava's people. He was passed down to Dorothy Spinner, becoming one of Dorothy's most beloved imaginary friends.
History
The creature later known as Manny originally belonged to Slava as she lived in the Yukon wilderness. Once Niles Caulder went to investigate her and befriended the native, Slava showed Caulder her ritual to summon the beast.
Niles and Slava fell in love and had a child named Dorothy Spinner, who had a connection to imaginary friends like her mother. Slava "gifted" the creature to Dorothy, who gave him his name Manny.
When Dorothy was brought to society in the mid-1900s, she was captured by a circus and forced to spawn Manny for the entertainment of crowds. Dorothy was distraught seeing her beloved creature tortured by the ringmaster and made a wish with the Candlemaker to free the two of them.
In the present day, while living at Doom Manor, Dorothy played with one of Crazy Jane's alternate personalities named Baby Doll. However, when Dorothy introduced Baby Doll to Manny, Baby Doll was inappropriate and prodded at the creature, upsetting Dorothy. The two girls had a fight, which resulted in Baby Doll overeating and switching to the personality of Flaming Katy to kill Manny with a fireball. With her imaginary friend dead, Dorothy, distraught, made the Candlemaker wish to kill Baby Doll.
