Mara is a former adventurer and shape-changer hailing from the city of Thamuz who became one of the four allies of Arion alongside Lady Chian and Wyynde. After countless adventures and the destruction of Atlantis, she would assume the form of a dog just as Darkworld disappeared from the universe, trapping her in the form.

Mara was born 45,000 years ago in the city of Thamuz. The evil sorcerer Garn Daanuth sought a mystic crystal in the possession of Mara's father. Mara fled with the crystal while her father fought off Daanuth's men and he was killed. Mara was rescued from her pursuers by Lady Chian and Wyynde, and came to live in Atlantis's City of the Golden Gate. She became an ally of the Atlantean mage Arion on many of his adventures. She accompanied him to safety when Atlantis finally sank.[1]
